Quotables
I absolutely fell in love with being on the water and the peace and freedom that you get being on the water in a single boat.

The Bane of My Existance…VANQUISHED
To date, I have not had good luck with Evenstar’s 24 volt alternator. It’s pretty much been entirely my fault, and there is some back story. Suffice it to say that in spite of the original alternator and two new ones over the last three years I’ve not managed to Read On..

And Now for Something Completely Different…
There is a new problem. Apparently freshwater system has been leaking a bit, and doing so onto the exhaust muffler. This has lead to rust and a couple of pinhole leaks. Not a great scenario, as the whole muffler must be replaced not just the rusty pit. However, this is Read On..

Wow! It looks like…Teak
If you put your face up really close and squint, parts of the boat are starting to look really, really good. There is still a whole boatload of ugly to be had with all of the unsanded areas, but every day and in every way it’s getting better and better. Read On..

So near but yet so far…
I can see Newport from my house, well the bridge anyway. And Jamestown Island. That’s where we spent the weekend after all – Dutch Harbor on Jamestown, followed by a lovely but short sail around Beavertail Point into the fog around Newport. No place I couldn’t drive in 35 minutes Read On..

Zoom Zoom Redux

Free at Last…
Sipping a drink in the cockpit at anchor last night while watching the sun go down, reading to the kids in a small pool of light in the saloon, waking up at anchor. After months of hard work and aggravation I finally get reminded of why I put myself through Read On..

Going Sailing….
The deck might still look like hell, but we’re going sailing this weekend! Well, in some places it looks quite nice but we don’t exactly have a good gestalt effect of WOW! yet since more than half of it is still un-sanded. But we’re getting there. If you put your Read On..

Revelation
The cover comes off today. Not because the deck is done, but because I am being evicted from the docks and I need to move the boat out to the mooring. The club discovered the boat is too big for them to comfortably tow so I have to get it Read On..

So I Have to Talk About the VOR One More Time
Really, I do – because it worked out so much better that I’d ever dreamed of when I first thought about taking Evenstar up to watch the racing in Boston. Although it was sad to scuttle our plans when I realized the boat was no where near ready, sometimes things Read On..

Ooops…81, 82, 83
So I was so excited about finishing the caulk run on the decks that I totally forgot about two small spots. The small square for the life raft platform right in front of the dodger (about 2.5′ x 2.5′) and the floor panels in the cockpit under the driver’s seat. Read On..
