A Night Off the Boat – Pretty Marsh Harbor

One of my son’s objectives for this trip is to do some camping on islands, like he and his sister did up here in Seal Bay in 2010.  We’ve got a couple of sleeping bags and his two man tent in storage just in case.  We’re not talking “park for Read On..

Forced March!

This is Rockland Harbor Breakwater Light. This is a chart of the harbor. Clearly pictured are Evenstar at anchor, approximately where the dinghy landing we have been using is, and the lighthouse.  The breakwater you see that the lighthouse is on is 7/8 of a mile long.  You can see Read On..

Mattapoissett

Yes,  there really is a giant seahorse in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.  We had no idea either. We were quite pleased with what a nice stopover Mattapoisett made.  A comfortable harbor with excellent holding, there is also a nice dinghy dock with heads and some restaurants and shops within an easy walk. Time to relax a bit, it’s amazing the way you can think differently, even a short drive from home. Our first night out we had a wonderful sail to Dutch Harbor, where we spent the night after a long day’s work.  We opened a bottle of champagne and sat back Read On..

Second Worst Project Ever

Nothing can ever possibly top the great Teak Debacle of 2009.  As much as we love Evenstar I would sell her before I ever did THAT project again.  The crippling pain and the smell and feel of teak caulk in completely inappropriate places is something I do not ever wish Read On..

In Case Anyone Asks…

Yeah…I could write a VOLUME on the autopilot project which has (or will) include various things like custom work at machine shops and fiberglass to even think about fitting in the boat.  Or on the number of cables I’ve added with the new PC & SSB.  But…I’ve got too much Read On..

You say tomato…

So the boat makes a loverly greenhouse. We opted this winter to use clear shrink wrap to cover Evenstar.  The thinking is that it would be warmer, in case we ended up living on the boat mid winter the extra comfort of a few degrees of greenhouse effect would make Read On..
