Recently the family fleet got one smaller. Forgot to mention this highly unusual development, we seem to keep acquiring boats, not shedding them. Anyway our kids have outgrown the little Skimmar dinghy and we sold it on Craig’s list.
In about twenty minutes. And nearly had a slap fight in the parking lot of the marina where the boat was between potential buyers. Perhaps I didn’t ask enough for it.
Great little boat for the money, but my son has grown about two feet taller since getting it and is almost as tall as me and my daughter could barely fit either. There is a new family sailing dink in the works…details to follow.

We’ve got one kicking around at our place. I toyed with the idea of turbo-ing it this past winter but couldn’t find the time. The idea was to build totally new foils for it, strip and do the bottom so it’s fast, and rig a spinnaker set off of a carbon prod. Maybe next year.
You so would not fit in that thing. You’re taller than me…I’ve still got a mere two inches on my son…not happening.
According to the kids it’s a fun boat. Sort of like an Opti without the blinding speed.
Oh well, it was a nice idea. I guess it will remain in the boat graveyard that is our back yard until someone decides to do something with it.
You should fix it up, and give it to some 7 or 8 year old you know. It’s a fun little boat and very easy sail.
Or sell it on Craig’s list; I was amazed how many willing buyers I had and the boat was gone within 12 hours of posting it. Priced too cheap (at twice what I paid for it).
